I need more TDs!

In my fantasy football league that is. Warrick Dunn has been awesome the past two weeks. He is leading the NFL in rushing so far, however, he has zero touchdowns...hopefully he'll put on a show this MNF as the Falcons visit the Saints for the reopening of the Superdome!

Indulge demanded us to "GET IN HERE", so we did.

Wenge and I prepared dinner for small group last night. I think it turned out pretty okay.

Driving in LA

Whew...I've been driving sooo much the last few days. Driving my mom around the first couple of days and then driving my uncle and aunt now. I forgot how far things are apart from each other in LA. It took us almost 1hr 1/2 to go roughly 20 miles today for lunch. For whatever reason, the 10, 605, and 60 were full of cars around 12pm. So we were in traffic that whole time and didn't get to lunch until about 1:30pm

:( boooooo...

We then spent pretty much the rest of the day at her church helping her move some stuff around. My sister was working on the slideshow until dinner time. After dinner, we dropped her and my mom at the hotel for the night and came back to rest...and then i'm too tired and distracted to blog anymore...so i'm gonna blog later.

:( boooooooooooooo...

Flew

back down to LA la land tonight. I came back for my sister's wedding. I'm glad and excited for her. Hopefully the weather will be nice on Saturday.

I think it's kinda funny that people at work told me to have a nice vacation when I was leaving today. But this trip is NOT a vacation for me!!! My sister and my mom already have all these things laid out for me to help them with...I'll be driving around a lot the rest of the week....oh wells.

Flew back on JetBlue for the first time. I have to admit that this flight crew was a lot more perky & upbeat than usual. Maybe it's just JetBlue's standards. Anywho, I was excited to check out the Direct TV on the flight. But the tv only worked for like 20 min on the whole flight. It kept saying that the reception was no good and it was due to "normal flight movement"... whatever that means. So I just ended up playing golf on my laptop =P

Dang, I'm so tired....better head to bed. Got a suuuuuuuuuuuper long day ahead of me.

Settling

Some of us got together this past weekend to celebrate Superman's day of birth! We had good food and fun activities.

We also started playing "Settlers of Catan" again. After debating on how to pronounce "settlers" with Mr. Freeze for a while, we eventually started playing. I've forgotten how long each game takes. The first game ended up taking a little over 2hrs to complete but I think it is very easy for the players to lose track of time. I just remember looking at the clock a couple of times and mere moments to me was actually hours in reality. Hahaha....

Anyways, I remember playing this a few years ago and thinking if someone will make an online version of the game. It appears they made a pretty nice looking online version recently but they've also started charging ppl for it.

This is another cool version of the game that is free but doesn't have AI when you play by yourself. AL and Superman joked about creating AI for that game...but I hope they'll actually do it...hehehe.

Get Lost
The new season of LOST began three weeks ago. However, I don't feel as excited about this season so far. I'm not sure where they are planning to go with the show, but it is getting a little too weird for me. They still use the same formula to keep the viewer's attention, which is why so many ppl enjoy the show. Each show raises up more questions than gives out anwers.

I've read some theories on the show's message boards. It amazes me how much attention some ppl pay to each episode. Some would come up with an intriguing theory by linking it to the most random details in a scene. I wonder if the show writers ever get ideas off of these message boards.

Anyways, they haven't focused on many of the characters from the first season yet, so they have a ton of potential on where the story could develop. One gripe I have is that each episode seems shorter this season. There are more commercials and the episode themsevels don't reveal as much story as I had hoped. AL and I were talking about how episode 2 practically didn't reveal ANYTHING that has to do with the main story. Having said that, I'm still looking forward to the next episode....when Jin apparently will be able to speak perfect English....hahaha

Grillin
No no not the George Foreman kind of grillin. I'm talking about the front grille for my ride. I've been thinking about getting something that would make the car standout from the usual 3s, differentiate it just a little bit. Beside, I really don't like the BIG mazda emblem in the front grille right now. The one I want is the Mazdaspeed one. There are also some aftermarket ones too.

New Post
I finally decided to login and post something. I think I did it cuz I'm pretty bored at work right now. A lot has occured since my last post. Many ups and downs in my own life. I got a new car, moved to Pacifica, the Lakers didn't make the playoffs for the first time in 12 years, Dodgers were terrible this year, the Raiders are off to a 1-3 start, blah blah blah... That's pretty much all I can recall right now.

It seems like I should change up my blog template too. Superman, OD, and Pocahontas all gave their blogs a new look since my last post...

Oh, I just got NBA league pass for this upcoming season. So excited, gonna be watching so many bball games every week...up to 40 per week!!! msF said that I'll get fat from watching that many games, but I think it'll motivate me to go play ball more often and thus get me back in shape!

My mom is coming tonight and staying for a week. We'll probably check out a winery or two in Napa, then the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz, and maybe some other places that she hasn't been yet. I'm also gonna take Friday AND Monday off, woohoo! a super long weekend for me... (to poop on!)

Crazy Finish

Wow! What an amazing finish to tonight's Laker game. It was probably one of the most exciting finishes to a playoff basketball game I've ever seen.

The last 20 seconds to the game was ridiculous. First Kobe hits a great potential game winning shot with about 12 seconds left. Then TD "threw up" a lucky shot that went STRAIGHT in to the basket leaving .04 ticks on the clock! At this point no one could have imagined that the Spurs would lose tonight.

I always thought that you have to have at least .08 sec in order to do a "catch and shoot". However it wasn't the case apparently, cuz Fish "caught and shot" a decent looking "desperation/prayer" shot up towards the basket and some how it hit nothing but net!

No doubt it was clutch on Fisher's part to even come to get the ball from Payton let along hit the game winning shot. The Spurs couldn't have played any better defense (Kobe was doubled teamed and Shaq was way under that basket) just as Shaq couldn't have done anything more to keep TD from hitting the previous basket.

Anywho, this reminds me that a couple of years ago when Sac and LA went down to game 7 in the Conf. Finals and went into overtime. It was that kind of excitment. Although game 3 of the T-Wolves and Kings series of this year's playoff was just as crazy as any playoff game in recent years.

2-2

I missed tonight's Lakers game AGAIN!!! wahhhh, I've missed the past three games already. Tonight was a mandatory practice session for my presentation. It ran extremely long which made me miss the game again . Well, at least they won tonight. Now the series is tied and momentum is wearing purple and gold!!!

Bad wheels
One of my tires blew out on the freeway last week while I was driving to work. It sucked cuz I had to replace that tire and the opposite one in order to have even tread wear. But while it was getting installed the tire guy showed me that another tire had a big nail in it! They said it would be okay to leave it as long as the tire doesn't leak. Well, hopefully it'll last a while before I have to spend money on tires again . Btw, who is "decline to state" anyways???

Sasser

So apparently this Sasser worm has infected the network at my work this weekend. The program we use at work kept shutting off and logging out today. By this afternoon they just turned those computers off and bascially allowed people to go in and work out for free!

I dunno much about computer viruses but this one supposedly is a virus that spreads by scanning randomly-chosen IP addresses for vulnerable systems. Hopefully it won't "randomly" choose me...it'd be too devastating if it did....

Anywho, I finally finished writing my mom her Mother's Day card (it took me a while cuz I wrote it in chinese...which I have not written in for about ten plus years). Now I just gotta find a box big enough to put her gift in and send it off in the mail soon .

Gmail and other stuff...

Thanks to Ms. Lawyer, I now have gmail yipee! Its working pretty well. I really like the different interface and colorful styles. I'm using it more and more lately .

Ts ts ts...the Lakers were somewhat disappointing today. I didn't get a chance to watch the game but I did listen to it on the radio from the end of the third quarter and on. Seems like they couldn't buy a field goal for the longest time plus the fact Lakers had trouble from the FT line again. I'm not too discouraged though and hopefully they will buckle down next game and produce a better defensive scheme.

I went and got an eye exam today as well. It turns out my vision has gotten slightly better. I also looked at and tried on some new frames. Superman came over later in the evening and we watched Alias. Man! I haven't watched a single episode this whole season until tonight. I really need to catch up and figure out what is going on this season .

4.26.2004

Hot Hot Hot!

Whew...today was soooo hot. I was dying at work. They tell us we have AC but I really doubt it. It was like working in a greenhouse or something. Soooo humid and hot. I had to leave work early =)

I finally got to watch a game in the Dallas and Sacramento series tonight. It was pretty boring for the most part. I mean I expected both team to run up and down the court and score gazillion points, but they never really got in sync until the end. Anywaz, I'm just waiting for LA to close out Houston on Wed. night. Hopefully LA will show some killer instinct and blow the Rockets out of the playoffs.

Okay back to work on my Master's Project...=(

Three Months Later...

Time flies when you are having fun. I haven't blogged in over three months. Well, not much has changed, I finally got a new cell phone.

I tried to get a free phone from AT&T but they didn't seem concerned about losing customers. I told them I needed a free phone for me to sign up again or else I would have to go with another carrier. They said "no" to the phone that I wanted and they also said I should just switch...so I did. 1000 anytime and unlimited nights and weekends from T-Moble, Woo Hoo!

I love my new phone but I dropped it for the first time yesterday >=( Oh wells, more of that in the future =P

Bowl-O-Rama

Just got back from monday night bowling. I'm learning new stuff every time I bowl. Tonight I was able to work on my consistency and my form (or the lack of). Superman and I bowled eight games tonight and for the first time I didn't bowl under 100 for any of the games =) We were talking about how different each bowling alley is from each other. The slickness of the lane can dramatically change how we bowl =P Anywho, it was a fun night. I also got a chance to meet some of Superman's FBC peeps. They were really nice =)

Tommorow night I'm gonna check out how different the lanes are at Albany. It should be another fun night...can't wait =) Yay for bowling!

Commenting System

Thanks Superman! Awesome job on the blog out...or should I say "Pan-Out"? Hahaha.

1.14.2004

Pin Pals

I don't consider myself a bowler by any means. In fact I really didn't think I'd enjoy bowling as much as I am these days =P This past Monday I got the chance to bowl with some peeps once again. I'm pretty excited cuz I finally learned how to bowl with a spin/hook, thanks to pointers by superman, wenge, and razzle =) We went after dinner and bowled til we dropped...well at least til I dropped, hahaha. Now two days later my right forearm is still sore from bowling, but it was worth it =P can't wait till the next time.

Squishy

Almost got squished on Sunday while driving to church. The "almost" accident occured at the intersection of Powell and Christie in Emeryville. Normally I don't take the Powell exit to go to church, but for some reason after getting off the Bay Bridge I just automatically went towards the Powell exit like I was going to small group or something.

Anywho, I get to the red light at the intersection and took the middle lane. On the right side of me there is a tour bus and on the other side there is a regular bus, both of which is much bigger than my tiny car. In front of me there is another car (don't recall what exactly). So the light turns green and everyone starts moving foward. Then slowly the bus on the right of me starts merging into my lane (I assume the bus couldn't see me cuz he kept on merging). But the car in front of me is blocking me from getting pass the merging bus while he is JUST infront of the bus, thus out of harms way =P and I couldn't move left cuz the regular bus is still there. I essentially have only one option...slow down...but the car behind me kept driving forward too. So I'm blocked in and basically was gonna get sandwiched by the two buses. Finally I honked at the car infront to go faster and SLOOOOWLY he pulled ahead JUST enough for me to ESCAPE the merging buses =P

So what did I learn? Don't day dream while i'm driving (which lead me to get off the wrong exit) and get to church on time (I was late...really late...missed the service.)

BACK HOME...

I just got back from LA. I saw some snow in the mountains on the way back up here and I gotta say it was really nice to go home for a little bit. I was able to spend some time with my family. I watched Finding Nemo with my mom last night because she hasn't seen it. She said she liked it, but I noticed her falling asleep towards the end...maybe cuz it was late.

On Sunday I went to my sister's church for worship and after service I visited the Sunday school class that she teaches. It was kinda funny watching her lead about forty kids for Sunday school. The kids had to wear name tag and all. It seemed more like a regular class than Sunday school. She even had prizes for kids who shows up and who memorizes Bible verses, hahaha. But I know that she truly has a passion for kids and truly enjoys teaching them =)

I also got to hang out with some friends at Santa Monica pier/beach. It was such a beautiful day...not a cloud in sight. However, the parking structure at the Promenade was pretty confusing for some reason. We had trouble finding our cars for a while =P. Then on Sunday we went to Old Town Pasadena and just walked around. I haven't been there in ages...but things looked pretty much the same. It was kinda surprising that there weren't more people there on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon.

All in all it was a short and unexpected trip, but I had a lot of fun and am really glad I got the chance to go home for a bit. Being at home is sooo nice, don't have to worry about food and stuff...heh heh heh. Yawn....I'm tired now, should go to bed =)

Dark and Gloomy

The weather outside today makes me just wanna crawl back into bed. I woke up a while ago feeling pretty okay. No more headaches and less sneezing/coughing. But my chest still hurts a bit and I'm blowing my nose like crazy....eeewww, yuck! After cleaning my room I figured I should probably use this day to rest up and recuperate some more. Even though I feel okay, some of the symptoms are still here.

Last night the Lakers finally snapped their "losing streak" at the expense of Mr. Freeze's beloved Celtics....Sorry dude. Warriors on the other hand got spanked by the Nuggets...AGAIN! I don't understand how you can beat the Lakers AND the Kings then lose to the Nuggest the next game, geeze! No consistency at all. Oh well, I'd put my money on the Warriors tonight against the Celtics. The Warriors have a decent home record of 10-5 this season (that's better than half of the Eastern Conference teams)...Not too shabby. I was suppose to work this game but seeing how I'm still under the weather, I'll just watch them from the comfort of my room.

Urgh! Hate being sick...Feels like I lost weight and strength. Well, guess its time for me to crawl back into bed.

12.27.2003

Argh...still feel sick, kept sneezing today =( Props to Superman for teaching me how to design my blog. I might have to tweak the colors a bit though, not sure if these colors perfectly match those of the Lakers. I got the purple and gold down with the baby blue (retro MN days) in the background.

Burrrr, its getting cold here at the Carlmont Adobe. I better go put on some more layers....gotta figure out what's for dinner...
